Stanford guard Kanaan Carlyle is set to officially visit Indiana basketball in April, one of the top guard transfers on the market.

One of the top guards in the transfer portal has set an official visit to Indiana basketball. Stanford guard Kanaan Carlyle will be visiting Indiana from April 19-21, according to On3.com Joe Tipton.

HoosierIllustrated.com has confirmed the visit dates.

That is the same weekend of Little 500 on Indiana’s campus.

Carlyle is a former top-60 prospect who played just one season at Stanford. During his freshman season he averaged 11.5 points, 2.7 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game in 23 appearances. He missed the first month of the season but made an immediate impact when he returned to the floor. He scored in double-figures 15 times, including two 20-point games and one 31-point outing.

His career high was 31 points against Washington State. He also scored 28 points in his fourth game of the season against Arizona. He was 9-of-13 from three in those two games.

After shooting 44.7 percent on 2.1 made 3s per game in the first 10 games he played, his shot fell off. He shot just 20.8 percent from three on 4.1 attempts for the final 13 games of the season, totaling just 32 percent on the season.

Carlyle is a dynamic athlete and scorer, however. He has good size at 6-foot-3 and 190 pounds and does a terrific job getting to the rim. He shot 77.6 percent from the foul line while attempting 3.7 free throws per game.

Carlyle is originally from the Atlanta area and was a name that Indiana basketball briefly looked at during his high school recruiting process. It is expected that if Indiana continues to make a push for Carlyle, assistant coach Yasir Rosemond will play heavily in his recruitment this time around.

He has three years of eligibility remaining. Carlyle is currently ranked the No. 7 overall player in the 247Sports transfer portal rankings.

Indiana basketball has six available scholarships ahead of the 2024-25 season. It currently has just one incoming player with five-star wing and McDonald’s All-American Bryson Tucker.
