Former Indiana linebacker Aaron Casey is taking the next step in his football career after signing an undrafted free agent contract.

According to reports, Casey has signed with the Cincinnati Bengals.

Casey was one of the few bright spots from a disappointing 2023 season for Indiana football.

Casey led the Hoosiers this season with 109 total tackles and became the first player with 100 tackles in an Indiana uniform since 2016. He also became the first Hoosier to win multiple Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week honors in a career.

He also led the Big Ten and ranked third nationally with 20 tackles for loss. Casey was also the lone FBS player to record multiple games with at least four tackles for loss in a season this past year.

His ability to get disrupt plays in the backfield is what has piqued the interest of NFL scouts.

“Instincts,” Casey said of what NFL teams like about his skill. “The way I can move and find the ball in the backfield. That was one of the main things, how aggressive I am in in putting contact.”

In his last two years with Indiana, Casey recorded 30.5 tackles for loss and 8 sacks. His ability to wreck an opponent’s offensive game plan is what made him so special for Indiana.

It’s just been such a neat process to see him just grow and develop gradually over time, and then to be able to play his best football in his final season is just what you want,” former Indiana football coach Tom Allen said about Casey. “You want guys to come here and be developed as men and as football players, and that’s what he’s done. Through all that, he’s been consistently taking care of his business in the classroom and representing his family in a first-class way in all that he does.”
