Big Ten planning to stay at 20 conference games and only 15 teams will qualify for the Big Ten tournament

With USC, UCLA, Oregon and Washington joining the Big Ten for the 2024-25 season, the conference will stick to a 20-game conference schedule per Jon Rothstein and College Hoops Today.

Another change was announced as only the top 15 teams will qualify for the conference tournament starting in 2025 with three teams missing the tournament.

“It’s competition. I mean, I’ve always been a coach and player that loves competition,” said Mike Woodson last fall.

“The four teams that are coming in are well-coached, talented players, and I think it can do nothing but enhance what we already have. The Big Ten is loaded with great coaches, man, and great players. So I look at it as competition. A lot of work. You got to get your ball clubs ready to play.”

This means Indiana basketball will likely play each Big Ten team once while playing Purdue and two other teams twice during conference play.

The 2024 Big Ten Tournament is set to take place March 13-17 at the Target Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

The official announcement from the conference is expected to come soon.
