Indiana basketball reaches out to brother of former Hoosier guard in the transfer portal

Like most fans had hoped to see, Indiana basketball has officially reached to the younger brother of one of the better shooters to come through the program in recent years.

Per a report from ESPN College Basketball Insider Jeff Borzello, Indiana basketball is one of the many schools to reach out to Stetson transfer guard Jalen Blackmon. It was also reported that Blackmon will also be going through the NBA draft process while in the transfer portal and is signing with Scott Nichols of Rize Management.

Other schools to reach out to Blackmon include Kentucky, Kansas, Northwestern, UCLA, Butler, Texas, and many other. He is one of the most sought after players in this year’s transfer portal.

Jalen Blackmon, an Indianapolis (IN) native, is the younger brother of former Indiana basketball guard James Blackmon Jr., who played for the Hoosiers under then head coach Tom Crean from 2014–2017. He is also the son of former Kentucky star and current Marion High School (IN) head coach James Blackmon Sr.

Jalen Blackmon ranked 10th nationally in scoring with 21.3 points per game this season and shot 38.1% from 3 on 8.3 attempts per game. He scored a career high 43 points in the ASUN title game to send Stetson to the NCAA tournament this season, as well.

He began his college career at Grand Canyon University before transfer to Stetson the last two seasons. He is one of the more dynamic scorers int he entire country is a microwave type scorer.

The 6-foot-3 guard was a first team All-ASUN selection this season.

He has one year of eligibility left.
