HoosierIllustrated.com was in the house for Hoop Group’s fantastic Indiana Jam Fest over the weekend at the Pacers Athletic Center and got a chance to see multiple Indiana basketball targets all in one place. One of those targets for Mike Woodson and staff is key 2025 four-star center and one that has been on the radar for the Hoosiers a few years now, Malachi Moreno.

Moreno recently wrapped up his first few weekends with Indiana Elite 2025 3SBB this spring playing alongside fellow key 2025 four-star Indiana basketball targets Braylon Mullins and forward Trent Sisley.

Moreno has visited Indiana multiple times over the past few years. During his junior year at Great Crossing High School (KY), he averaged 16.0 points, 13.2 rebounds, 3.7 blocks, and 2.2 assists per game.

Along with Indiana basketball, Moreno has offers from Purdue, Notre Dame, Tennessee, Cincinnati, Syracuse, Alabama, Florida, Louisville, Illinois, Baylor, Auburn, and many more.

He is the No. 33 overall prospect in the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

Below are the highlights from Malachi Moreno at Indiana Jam Fest plus a few scouting notes.

The near 7-foot center was one of the many standouts for this loaded Indiana Elite 2025 3SSB team. He alongside fellow 2025 front court running mate Dezmon Briscoe make for one of the more dominant post duos you will see out of any AAU team across the entire country. Moreno never really got out of his comfort zone that much when I watched him over the weekend. He was really active on the glass and thought he did an incredible job of cleaning up missed buckets and gave Indiana Elite multiple second chance points with put-back dunks most of the time. Thought he was really solid when he would be aggressive and post his man up and when he would get the ball, he used his great length and skill to score with a soft touch around the rim. Few things I want to see Moreno improve on is his ability to stretch the floor and playing with consistent toughness. He has all the physical tools and skill you want to work with if you were to coach him at the next level. If he were to choose to play for Indiana basketball, Mike Woodson would be able to take Moreno’s game to that next level.
