The Indiana basketball program continues its search for knock-down shooters and on Monday night, the nation’s top three-point shooter entered the transfer portal.

Dayton guard Koby Brea hasn’t been in the transfer portal for more than 24 hours and has already heard from nearly two dozen programs, including Indiana basketball. Kansas, Duke, UConn, Louisville, Illinois, Miami, Arizona, St. John’s and numerous other programs.

Brea has a significant skillset that every program needs; shooting. Brea shot 49.8 percent from three last season on 3.0 made 3s a game. The 6-foot-6 wing averaged 11.1 points and 3.8 rebounds a game in 33 games — and just four starts.

Overall, Brea made 100 3s last year and made at least one three in 31 of 33 games. He made at least three 3s in 18 games last season.

He had 15 points on 5-of-8 from three in Dayton’s Round of 64 matchup against Nevada. He then had 14 points and was 4-of-8 from three in the Round of 32 loss to Arizona.

Brea has a very quick and high release and with his size, he’s extremely difficult to contest as a defender. What makes him even more lethal from three is his range. He made 16 3s that were deeper than 25 feet last year.

While he is a great shooter off of the catch and dribble, he’s among the best off of the ball. Brea ranked in the 100th percentile last year on catch and shoot opportunities, with an 83 percent effective field goal rate.

He ranked in the 96th percentile, scoring 1.47 points per possession on spot up shots.

Brea has averaged 2.0 made 3s for his career (113 games) and shot 43.4 percent in his four seasons at Dayton.

He was a two-time A-10 Sixth Man of the Year in his career.

Indiana basketball already added Myles Rice from Washington State in the backcourt — a terrific pick and roll guard who can create for himself or teammates off of the dribble. IU is also trending for Stanford guard Kanaan Carlyle, a ball dominant scoring guard as well.

Indiana has five available scholarships still available for the 2024-25 season.
