Indiana basketball continues its transfer success by landing sharpshooting guard Luke Goode from Illinois.

Goode, who played three years at Illinois, entered the transfer portal on Monday. He will have one year of eligibility remaining.

The 6-foot-7 shooter had his most successful season at Illinois this past year, averaging 5.7 points, 3.6 rebounds and shooting 38.9 percent from three in 20.1 minutes per game. He led Illinois in three-point percentage and was second in made 3s with 61. He averaged 1.6 made 3s per game. Goode had 29 games with at least one made three and 17 games with at least two 3s.

His 61 made 3s ranked 15th in the Big Ten this season.

“All Luke does is want to win,” Illinois head coach Brad Underwood said during their NCAA Tournament run. “He’s continued to work and accept whatever role has been his. He’s had a four- or five-game stretch where he really fought and ankle sprain and some knee tendonitis and didn’t play as much. He’s that guy who can fill any role. He’s versatile, can play multiple positions and he’s the consummate glue guy.

“He’s not afraid. Luke has tremendous confidence. He’s got a swagger about him that allows him to go out there and be successful. He puts in the work, so I think he’s confident in his abilities. Now he’s a little smarter than he was two years ago on the defensive side. He gets it.”

Goode is exactly what Indiana basketball needed — a true knockdown shooter on the wing.

He ranked in the 77th percentile this year with a 56 percent effective field goal rate on catch and shoot 3s. He also ranked in the 83rd percentile in off the dribble shooting, with a 58 percent effective field goal rate.

87.7 percent of his shot attempts this season came from three. He only attempted 22 twos.

As a sophomore, Goode missed most of the year with a broken foot, playing in only 10 games. He averaged 4.0 points and was 8-of-19 on 3s.

Goode averaged 4.1 points and shot 38.8 percent from three for his career.

Indiana basketball has added center and No. 1 overall transfer Oumar Ballo, shooting guard and No. 10 transfer Kanaan Carlyle and point guard and No. 18 transfer Myles Rice this offseason through the portal. Indiana has the No. 1 ranked transfer portal class, according to the 247Sports portal rankings.
