Indiana basketball officially wrapped up their regular season with an exciting win over Michigan State on Sunday. Multiple recruiting targets for the Hoosiers were in attendance to witness the great win including key 2025 targets Trent Sisley, Braylon Mullins, and 2026 guard Gabe Gabe Sularski.
Another Indiana basketball target that was in attendance on Sunday to see the Hoosiers win their fourth-straight game was in-state and 2026 four-star guard Steven Reynolds III. He, along with Gabe Sularski, earned an offer from Indiana after the visit.
Reynolds III, a 6-foot-5 shooting guard out of South Bend (IN), attends South Bend Washington High School and is one of the higher upside players in the state of Indiana. Reynolds is so fluid athletically with the ball in his hands with excellent court vision, passing ability, and a high basketball IQ. He also has the elite ability to get his shot off at almost any spot on the floor while making buckets consistently.
Reynolds will be playing for Phenom United on the Adidas 3SSB circuit. He ranked No. 38 in the 247Sports Composite Rankings in the 2026 class.
Along with Indiana basketball, Reynolds has made visits to Illinois, Notre Dame, Western Michigan and IUPUI. His dad, Steve Reynolds, played college basketball for Western Michigan from 2000-02.
Reynolds III spoke with HoosierIllustrated.com to break down what stood out with the Indiana basketball program, Mike Woodson, reaction to the visit, earning an offer, his goals to play in the NBA, and more
Below is the full Q&A with Steven Reynolds III.
Q. Overall, how did the Indiana basketball visit go on Sunday?
Steven Reynolds III: “It went good for sure everyone was great, didn’t get to see campus just a gameday visit, we will get to that another time but overall it was super fun and can’t wait to get back, loved the atmosphere for sure. It was a great win.”
Q. What are some of the key takeaways come away with from Mike Woodson and Indiana’s system?
Steven Reynolds III: “I really like Mike Woodson, despite the outside noise. I really like how he carries himself and what he is trying to build with the Indiana program and like I stated earlier I really like their atmosphere/fans.”
“Definitely like the style of play, obviously the goal for me is to get to the highest level (NBA) so Mike (Woodson) being that NBA experienced coach is definitely something I liked, loved what they did last year with Jalen (Hood-Schifino).”
Q. You being a kid from the state, what did it mean for you to get an offer from Indiana?
Steven Reynolds III: “My dad was telling me stories about him playing at Indiana vs Jared Jeffries. Then other stories about Isaiah Thomas and Bobby Knight and so on. I’m very familiar with the Purdue/IU rivalry so to get this offer meant a lot to me and my family. All I know is Indiana so it felt good.”
Q. Who from the Indiana basketball staff is kind of leading your Indiana recruitment right now?
Steven Reynolds III: “Jordan Hulls & Adam Howard”
Q. What schools are you in contact the most with right now? Any other visits planned soon or you are wanting to take in the summer?
Steven Reynolds III: “No visits, just going when I’m open, but Michigan State, Michigan, Western Michigan.”
(Reynolds III has offers from Purdue, Notre Dame, Nebraska, Ohio State Illinois, Texas A&M, Mississippi State, Western Michigan, and others)
Q. How would you describe your game for those that have not seen you play yet?
Steven Reynolds III: “Combo guard who can score at all 3 levels, shoot the lights out, and a vocal leader.”
