One of the biggest offseason moves in college basketball was the transfer of former Michigan center Hunter Dickinson. While Dickinson announced his move outside of the Big Ten, he’ll still be visiting Indiana this coming season.
The 7-footer made the move to Kansas, over finalists Kentucky, Villanova and Maryland.
Dickinson, however, will still be retuning to Indiana and Assembly Hall this year. As Kansas and Indiana wrap up its home-and-home series that began last year, the Jayhawks will travel to Bloomington in December.
Dickinson played three years for Michigan and was 2-3 against Indiana — losing three in a row.
The always vocal and outgoing Dickinson has been on the record about the ‘weirdos’ in Bloomington. But on Thursday, he had some good things to say about the Indiana basketball program.
Dickinson joined a Twitter Spaces hosted by Kansas insider Mike Vernon and Full Ride Network founder, Anthony Wright. Wright is also a former Michigan player (2007-10).
“‘I can’t wait to go back to Indiana,” Dickinson said. “Playing in Assembly Hall is crazy. I love that atmosphere.
“I feel like most Big Ten teams hated me … I play with a lot of passion and that’s kinda hard to accept when I’m getting a lot of buckets on your team and letting you know it. I’ve grown so accustomed to that role now where you can’t really phase me as an opposing crowd.”
In five games against the Hoosiers, Dickinson has averaged 18.6 points and 8.4 rebounds per game. He shot 61.2 percent (38-of-62) from the floor
He averaged 20.7 points per game in three games at Assembly Hall.
The Kansas at Indiana game is expected to be on Saturday, Dec. 16.
