‘A flip is a possibility’ for one current Indiana football commit as signing day approaches

Indiana football commit Josh Philostin
The Indiana football program is set to host its top commit with a flip in his pledge being a potential option.

One of the highest-rated commits in the current Indiana football 2024 recruiting class could be a bit shaky with his pledge.

Josh Philostin committed to Indiana in October after the Hoosiers held off programs like Rutgers, Arkansas, Duke, Illinois, Iowa, Maryland, Miami (Fla.), Penn State, Louisville, Wisconsin, West Virginia, Texas A&M and others.

Now, following the shakeup with Indiana’s staff, ‘a flip is a possibility’ for the Florida native.

“The high three-star cornerback from Palm Beach Gardens (Fla.) Cardinal Newman has been committed to Indiana since early October – and he will be back in Bloomington next weekend to meet the new coaching staff – but a visit to Syracuse means a flip is a possibility,” Rivals National Recruiting Director Adam Gorney wrote. “Philostin loved the vibes given off by new coach Fran Brown and his staff and the Orange are definitely a contender now.”

Josh Philostin is a versatile athlete who has played numerous positions on both sides of the ball. At 5-foot-11 and 175-pounds, he’s a quick and athletic player who also starred as a track athlete. In 2022, he had 12 tackles, six pass breakups and four interceptions. He also caught 20 passes for 307 yards and four touchdowns.

This season, he had 10 catches for 133 yards offensively and 29 tackles and two interceptions on the defensive side of the ball.

Indiana is hosting the talented athlete this weekend, fresh off of his Syracuse visit.

Philostin is rated the No. 68 cornerback in the Rivals class of 2024 rankings. He is also the No. 499 overall player in the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

Signing day is just about a week away and the Indiana football program would like to go into this stretch with confidence that Philostin will land in Bloomington.
