As the spring and summer live evaluation periods get underway, visits will begin getting scheduled. For the Indiana basketball program, they’ve already begun to get visits scheduled and that could continue with 2025 point guard Mikel Brown.

Brown is a five-star point guard in the 2025 class. He is ranked No. 13 overall in the 247Sports composite rankings and the No. 2 point guard in the class.

According to Rob Cassidy of Rivals.com, Kansas State, Texas, Indiana, Florida and Florida State were the main programs mentioned by Brown as schools that were heavily involved.

Among those, Indiana and a few others were programs Brown said he wanted to visit.

“As of now, I want to get to Florida,” Brown told Cassidy. “I’ll get to Florida soon. That’s home. It’s close. Then, like Texas and Indiana are other ones. I’m not looking that far into it right now, but those are just the ones that come to mind.”

Brown is a Florida native, playing his freshman season at Orlando Christian Prep (Fla.) before transferring to Sunrise Christian (Ks.) where he played this past season. He helped lead Sunrise Christian to a GEICO National semifinal appearance before falling to eventual national champion Link Academy.

Mikel Brown is a long and rangy 6-foot-1 point guard who can both create and score off of the dribble. He’s quick and shifty with the ball in his hands and does tremendous work off of ball screens. He has a good shot and but is typically better off of the dribble from the perimeter.

Brown is a true point guard, however, who knows when to score and when to create for his teammates.

He averaged 2.9 assists per game for Sunrise Christian this season. That was ranked No. 12 in the NIBC despite coming off of the bench and playing a more reserve role behind numerous four and five-star seniors.

He plays for Austin Rivers Southeast Elite on the Adidas 3SSB circuit. This is his second summer playing up with the 17U division.

Indiana basketball assistant coaches Brian Walsh and Jordan Hulls saw Brown in action during the first live period last weekend.
