When the Indiana football program received a commitment from 2024 cornerback Josh Philostin earlier this week, it beat out the likes of Penn State, Texas A&M, Maryland, Illinois, Arkansas, Miami (Fla.), Wisconsin and others.

Philostin is a three-star cornerback out of Cardinal Newman (Fla.) high school. He is rated as the No. 487 player in the 247Sports Composite Rankings and a top-50 cornerback.

He is the highest-rated commit in the 2024 class for Indiana.

Following his commitment to Indiana, he broke down a few keys as to why he is heading to Bloomington over nearly 20+ other programs.

It was simple.

“Indiana was the first school to offer me back my sophomore year,” Philostin told USA Today High School Sports. “They stayed loyal and consistent throughout the whole process.”

Philostin took an official visit to Indiana in June and immediately put the Hoosiers near the top in his recruitment.

Philostin has 14 tackles and one interception in four games played this season, per MaxPreps. He had 12 tackles, six pass breakups and four interceptions last season.

“I’m big on relationships and they (Indiana football) took the time to do that. Also, (they) give me the opportunity to go out and play early. I know where I wanted to go so why continue to wait,” Philostin added. “They didn’t back off — not one time through the process.”

Philostin is part of a 19-man recruiting class for Tom Allen and the Indiana football program.
