Penn State sharpshooter transfer Shay Ciezki commits to Indiana women’s basketball

The Indiana women’s basketball program continues to load up this offseason by adding power five talent through the transfer portal and earned another commitment from Penn State guard Shay Ciezki.

Ciezki made her commitment public late on Thursday night.

Ciezki is coming off of a sophomore season when she averaged 11.5 points and shot 36.8 percent from three. The 5-foot-7 guard made 74 3s last season, including at least one three in 27 of her 31 games played. She ranked seventh in the Big Ten in three-point percentage.

She had at least two 3s in 19 games.

Ciezki’s best performance was a 40-point outing against Central Connecticut when she was 8-of-14 from three. She also had 27 points against Oklahoma State and was 7-of-13 from three.

Ciezki scored at least 15 points in 14 games.

As a freshman Ciezki averaged 11.8 points and shot 41.6 percent from three. She had three 20+ point gams. She hit 64 3s as a freshman and ranked second in the Big Ten in three-point percentage.

She has started 59 of 65 career games across two seasons.

Coming out of high school, Ciezki was ranked No. 56 overall in the 2022 class and the No. 14 point guard.

Ciezki looks like the perfect replacement for Sara Scalia who finished last season as the single-season record holder in made 3s in Indiana women’s basketball history (103).

Scalia made 156 3s in her two seasons with Indiana women’s basketball.

Ciezki has made 138 3s over the last two years.

Indiana women’s basketball returns Chloe Moore-McNeil, Sydney Parrish and Yarden Garzon who have multiple years of experience and starting experience. Ciezki joins Tennessee forward transfer Karoline Striplin who committed to Indiana on Thursday as well.
