IU football added experience and production to its quarterback room on Friday night as Old Dominion transfer Grant Wilson pledge to Indiana.

Wilson joins Cal transfer Fernando Mendoza as the newest members of IU’s quarterback group.

Wilson was injured much of the 2024 season and had just three starters. He had 507 yards passing with four touchdowns and three interceptions.

Playing in 12 games with 11 starts in 2023, Wilson finished with 2,149 yards, 17 touchdowns and eight interceptions. He also added 289 yards on the ground with four rushing touchdowns.

In 2023, Wilson had 277 yards and two touchdowns with zero interceptions against a James Madison program led by now IU football head coach Curt Cignetti. JMU came away with a 30-27 win.

Indiana needed some depth at the quarterback position, especially after backup QB Tayven Jackson entered the portal and committed to UCF. IU, who lost starting quarterback Kurtis Rourke, also may be facing an injury to a key backup. Zach Osterman of the IndyStar reported on Friday that four-star freshman Tyler Cherry suffered a non-contact leg injury this winter during practice leading up to Indiana’s College Football Playoff loss to Notre Dame.

Wilson has one season of eligibility left.
