As it was announced Wednesday, transfer guard Caleb Love is decommitting from Michigan after the former five-star guard’s credits from North Carolina didn’t meet the standards required by Michigan for all of them to transfer over, per CBS Sports senior writer Matt Norlander.

Per Adam Zagoria of the New York Times, two schools to keep and eye on for Caleb Love now are Indiana and Missouri.

With Love once again entering the transfer portal for the second time this offseason, he becomes arguably the top portal target remaining just as he was before he committed to Michigan.

Love spent three years at North Carolina and was a star in the 2022 NCAA Tournament. This past year as a junior he averaged 16.7 points, 3.7 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game. However, his inconsistent shooting landed him at just 29.9 percent from three on 7.4 attempts per game. He shot just 73-of-244 from three.

Out of high school, Love was a five-star prospect and ranked in the top-15 of the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

Both Indiana and Missouri are two schools that have close ties with Love. With Love being at St. Louis native he has a chance to come back and play in his home state. Out of high school, Indiana recruited Love where he actually included the Hoosiers in his final five schools.

Bleacher Report’s Adam Wells further broke down why Indiana is one of the top landing spots for the former North Carolina star:

“Indiana is also fairly close to home for Love,” said Wells. “It would also give him the opportunity to go up against Michigan at least once in the regular season during the 2023-24 campaign.”

“Head coach Mike Woodson has led the Hoosiers to consecutive seasons with at least 20 wins and back-to-back trips to the NCAA tournament in each of his first two years with the program.”

After the official announcement of 2023 five-star forward Mackenzie Mgbako committing to Indiana, the Hoosiers currently have one remaining scholarship available. Indiana has also added Payton Sparks, Kel’el Ware, and Anthony Walker from the transfer portal this offseason.

Love would provide Indiana with another experienced secondary ball-handler to play alongside senior guard Xavier Johnson, who received his approved medical hardship waiver a last month.

Caleb Love has two years of eligibility left.
