Indiana football is as exciting as it has been in a long time and big reason for that is because of the players that new head coach Curt Cuignetti has brought in.
Last month, Cignetti and Indiana brought in arguably their best transfer commitment of the offseason in former James Madison wide receiver Elijah Sarratt. When he entered the transfer portal after Cignetti left, Sarratt had offers from Wisconsin, South Carolina, Cal, Purdue, Utah and others before deciding to follow his James Madison head coach to Bloomington.
This was a massive get for Cignetti and the Indiana football program as they were able to land of the top players for James Madison while Curt Cignetti was at the helm. The 6-foot-2 and 207-pound wideout averaged 14.5 yards per reception and caught 82.8 percent of his targets (82-of-99). He had an overall grade on Pro Football Focus of 90.2.
According to PFF, Elijah Sarratt is the highest-graded transfer wide receiver in the country at the FBS level coming in at a 89.9 rating.
“Just getting started I promise I’m not satisfied.,” Sarratt said on Twitter when the ratings came.
Sarratt is coming off of a terrific season with the Dukes. He finished 2023 with 82 receptions for 1,191 yards and eight touchdowns. He had six 100+ yard games with four in a row to end the season. He was named an All-Sun Belt selection in 2023.
Indiana football added three wide receivers through the transfer portal this winter as well as retaining Donaven McCulley who had originally entreated the transfer portal, and EJ Williams and Omar Cooper Jr.
Sarratt has two seasons of eligibility remaining.
