Indiana Basketball Recruiting Highlights: 2025 five-star guard Meleek Thomas at EYBL Session 3

The first live period of the AAU season is officially wrapped up and the city of Indianapolis was the place to be this past weekend. With multiple AAU events happening in the area, the first live period weekend was highlighted by the loaded Nike EYBL Session 3 event, which took place in Westfield and had a huge Indiana basketball presence.

At EYBL this weekend, there were multiple, key 2025 Indiana basketball targets that were attendance. Perhaps the highest rated Indiana basketball target in attendance over the weekend was 2025 five-star guard Meleek Thomas.

Thomas, a 6-foot-4 combo guard that runs with New Heights Lightening 17U, was easily a top five prospect in the gym all three days this weekend. In four games, the high-touted prospects averaged 17.5 points and did multiple things on the floor so well.

New Heights Lightening 17U has been one of the more impressive teams on the Nike EYBL Circuit this season. They are currently 7-3 in three sessions and went 3-1 over the weekend.

There were a lot of areas of his game that you can enjoy watching of his but your favorite may be the versatility he brings on the floor. He is one of the best guards that you will see that can play both on and off the ball at a high level. He makes incredibly sharp passes to his teammates while also being a player that uses his length to create shots for himself. Really at his best working off ball screens where he can use a quick step to the basket or get a dribble pull up going.

Multiple high-major programs paid close attention to him, including Indiana basketball, who is hoping to get an official visit here soon from Thomas. There is going to be a ton of schools that remain active in his recruitment. Along with Indiana basketball, schools such as UConn, Rutgers, Duke, Auburn, Kansas, Kentucky, Tennessee, Alabama, and many others are also involved.

He is rated as the No. 6 player in the 2025 247Sports Composite Rankings.
