Indiana basketball bounced back from their worst performance of the season in a big way by outlasting Ohio State 77-76 in overtime on Friday night.

The Hoosiers improved to 14-5 on the season and 5-3 in the Big Ten with the road victory.

Oumar Ballo led the way for Indiana basketball scoring 21 points on 8-14 from the field. Ballo finished with a game-high 15 rebounds including eight offensive rebounds. He also added four assists, two blocks, and a steal in the win.

As a team, the Hoosiers out-rebounded the Buckeyes 39-35 and had 17 second-chance points to Ohio State’s six.

Luke Goode had a massive performance for the Hoosiers. He scored a career-high 23 points on 7-14 from the field and 4-7 from three in the win including a go-ahead three that put Indiana up for good.

As a team, Indiana basketball struggled to shoot the ball. They shot just 27-64 (42%) from the field, 6-20 (30%) from three, and 17-23 (74%) from the free throw line in the game.

Indiana point guard Myles Rice struggled with foul trouble all night as he only played 15 minutes in the game. Rice finished with four points and two assists in the game.

Kanaan Carlyle stepped up significantly during Rice’s absence as he had his best game in months for Indiana basketball. Carlyle scored 13 points on 5-12 from the field and added four rebounds and a steal.

After two straight 25-point losses, Mike Woodson elected to make a change to the starting lineup and inserted Anthony Leal into the starting five over Trey Galloway. In his third career start, Leal struggled offensively but played stellar defense including a late block on Ohio State’s final possession.

Off the bench, Trey Galloway scored seven points and had a game-high six assists in 35 minutes of action.

Ohio State was without their second-leading scorer, Devin Royal, but the trio of Bruce Thornton, Micah Parrish, and John Mobley Jr. carried the offensive load for the Buckeyes.

Mobley Jr. scored a team-high 22 points, with three rebounds, three assists, and hit five threes for the Buckeyes. Parrish scored 19 on 8-13 for Ohio State.

The Buckeyes’ leading scorer Bruce Thornton finished the game with 18 points and six rebounds but missed a three to win the game at the buzzer in overtime.

The win gives the Hoosiers their second quad-one win of the season as they were able to silence much of the noise surrounding the program after the loss to Illinois.

Indiana basketball will be back on the road on Wednesday when they travel to face Northwestern in Evanston.
