Indiana basketball has been involved with some of the top transfers in the portal this offseason, but none bigger than Arizona transfer center Oumar Ballo.
On Tuesday there was an update to Ballo’s recruitment. Fresh off of his visit to Indiana, he canceled his trip to Louisville, according to Louisville insider Jody Demling of 247Sports.
Ballo is now expected to visit Arkansas, per reports. HoosierIllustrated.com hasn’t been able to confirm any dates. At the moment Indiana basketball and Arkansas are the two teams to watch in his recruitment.
Ballo is coming off of his senior season in which he was named on the All-Pac 12 First Team. He averaged 12.9 points, 10.1 rebounds and 1.3 blocks per game this season in 26 minutes a game. He shot 65.8 percent from the field but 49.5 percent from the foul line on 5.3 attempts per game.
The 7-foot, 260-pound center is a terrific rebounder and defender.
He is best on the offensive glass as he led the Pac-12 in offensive rebound rate (15.1) and first in total rebound rate (21.1). Defensively, his block rate (5.0) was fifth in the Pac-12. He also led the league in defensive rating (92.7).
Ballo has just one year of eligibility remaining. Indiana basketball lost starting center and All-Big Ten Second Team selection Kel’el Ware this offseason when he announced he would be entering the NBA Draft and forgoing his remaining two seasons.
Ballo is currently ranked as the No. 1 transfer in the 247Sports portal rankings.
