Indiana basketball continues trend upwards when it comes to the 2025 recruiting class. While the Hoosiers have not gotten any commitments as of this writing, they still have maintained as players for many of the top targets in that class.

Another five-star prospect in the 2025 class has included Indiana basketball in his final eight schools. As it was announced by On3’s Joe Tipton, 2025 five-star shooting guard Darryn Peterson included the Hoosiers in his final eight as well as Kansas, Kentucky, North Carolina, Ohio State, Baylor, Michigan, and Arkansas.

It was also reported by Joe Tipton that Peterson is open to the professional route, as well. In the same report, Peterson is planning on taking official visits to Kansas, Kentucky, North Carolina, Ohio State, and Arkansas. Right now, there is not plan for Peterson to visit Indiana basketball.

The Hoosiers offered Peterson back in February of 2022.

Peterson, a Canton, Ohio native, is a 6-foot-5 guard who plays his high school ball for Huntington Prep (WV). He is a consensus five-star prospect nationally and is conserved as the No. 1 shooting guard in the 2025 class.

The elite guard also has the privilege of being the first ever high school athlete to sign a NIL deal with Adidas. While is does not make a difference at this point in time, Indiana basketball and Kansas are the only two Adidas schools in the final eight of Peterson.

Scouting Notes from HoosierIllustrated.com:

Peterson is another player in the 2025 class that can make a case as the best overall prospect. At 6-5, Peterson is a real physical guard that can play both on and off the ball at an extremely high level. When on the ball, he has proven to be real explosive and and crafty when in the lane or when he is creating a jumper for himself. Along with his incredible feel for the game already, he is such an advanced shot creator, which is what makes him such a high prospect.
