2024 top-50 wing Marcus Allen has landed a scholarship offer from the Indiana basketball program, he confirms to HoosierIllustrated.com. The offer comes just a day removed from the first live evaluation period.

Indiana assistant coach Yasir Rosemond is the assistant for Indiana that is leading this recruitment. Allen is ranked No. 47 in the 247Sports composite rankings for the 2024 class. He is also rated as the No. 13 small forward in the class.

Marcus Allen is a 6-foot-6 wing who plays for AZ Compass Prep and then Florida Rebels on the Nike EYBL Circuit.

“I know the fan base goes crazy,” Allen told HoosierIllustrated. “At all the home games they’re always loud and into the games for sure. IU is a great program for sure. I was just very excited and happy to be recruited by them. It shows all my hard work in the gym is paying off for sure.”

Allen averaged 11.5 points, 2.5 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game in the first live period. He shot 56.3 percent from the field. He had just one turnover in 93 minutes across four games.

Allen is known for his defensive ability and athleticism. He’s still a bit raw offensively, but the pieces are all there. He knows what matters most, however. And that’s doing whatever it takes to win.

“My game is based on defense for sure. Being able to shut down the (opposing) team’s best player is a goal of mine every game and honestly it gets me going with my offense as well,” Allen said.

This season was his first at Compass Prep. The move out there was a big one, but one that is paying dividends already.

“That helped my game a lot,” Allen said of his move to Compass Prep. “My IQ has gotten way better. My ability to read the court and get my teammates open has jumped a lot over the past year.”

He is originally from Miami, Florida. He has a relationship with current Indiana basketball forward Malik Reneau, who is also from the Miami area.

Allen is also teammates with one of Indiana’s top 2024 targets in Liam McNeeley with Florida Rebels. He is ready to pick the brain of McNeeley when they see each other next.

“My guy Liam,” Allen said. “I haven’t gotten a chance to talk to him about it yet. I know he’s on his official to University of Texas but I’ll be with him this weekend for session two so we’ll chat about it a little bit.”

Marcus Allen doesn’t have any visits scheduled at the moment. He holds offers from programs such as Michigan, Missouri, Arkansas, Miami, Florida State, Oregon, Ohio State, Texas A&M, Villanova, Arizona State and others.

HoosierIllustrated.com will get to see Allen in person during the EYBL Session II this weekend in Phoenix.
