The Indiana basketball program had been monitoring 2024 top-50 wing VJ Edgecombe for quite some time and last week, finally extended an offer. The Long Island Lutheran (NY) wing has been one of the biggest stock risers this season and looks to continue that into the summer.

This was Edgecombe’s first season at LuHi and helped lead them to a berth in the GEICO Nationals. He led all scorers in the NIBC at 17.3 points per game. He also added 5.3 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 2.1 steals and 1.3 blocks per game.

VJ Edgecombe shot 43 percent from three and made the fourth-most 3s on the season (22). Edgecombe’s scoring ability led him to three of the top 11 scoring performances in the league on the season (31, 28, 25).

Currently, Edgecombe has offers from Miami, Villanova, Michigan, Ohio State, St. John’s, Georgia Tech, Mississippi State, Seton Hall, Tennessee and Wake Forest among others.

Edgecombe’s reaction to the Indiana offer was one of relief.

“It was great man, that’s definitely one of the ones I’ve been waiting on.” Edgecombe told HoosierIllustrated.com. “It’s a great program for sure. Great coach overall, love his (Mike Woodson) coaching style and he seems like a great person off the court also.”

Edgecombe mentioned his desire to be known as an ‘all around player’. That’s something that sticks out to scouts around the country.

According to Rivals national analyst Jason Jordan, VJ Edgecombe is still ‘flying under the radar’ as we head into the summer.

“In his first year in the NIBC, the most grueling conference in all of high school basketball, Edgecombe led the conference in scoring (17.3 ppg) and was named Player of the Year,” Jordan said. “At 6-6, Edgecombe plays tenacious on both ends of the floor, attacks the basket with reckless abandonment, has an efficient stroke from the perimeter and maneuvers to the basket to finish through contact. Edgecombe helped Long Island Lutheran reel off 22 consecutive wins while playing in a league with Montverde, IMG Academy, AZ Compass Prep and Sunrise Christian, just to name a few. Buy stock now.”

VJ Edgecombe is just starting to get his recruitment underway. He says he will begin to take some visits throughout the summer. He has no current timeline for a decision.

Edgecombe is playing for Southeast Elite on the Adidas 3SSB circuit this summer.
