Former Indiana basketball center Kel’el Ware had his first career game with the Miami Heat on Saturday night.

Ware, the 15th overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, started and finished with 12 points on 5-of-12 shooting with six rebounds and five blocks in 24 minutes. The Heat, however, lost 105-66 to the Golden State Warriors.

Kel’el Ware had the first two points of the game, a floater off of a rebound at the free throw line. After struggling a bit in the first half, he had 10 second-half points and was much more involved in the game.

The 7-footer averaged 15.9 points, 9.9 rebounds and 1.9 blocks per game in 32.2 minutes per game during his lone season with Indiana basketball. Those were vastly improved from his freshman season at Oregon where he averaged 6.6 points, 4.1 rebounds and 1.3 blocks in 15.8 minutes per game.

That skill was on display with his new teammates this week leading up to the summer league.

“Kel’el is a physical monster,” Heat guard Cole Swider said after their first practice. “You can throw the ball anywhere and he’s going to catch and finish it.”

Below are the full highlights of Kel’el Ware’s Summer League debut.
