Indiana football landed its quarterback for next season as Cal transfer Fernando Mendoza announced his pledge to the Hoosiers. Indiana earned his commitment over heavy interest from Georgia, Miami and Missouri.

He will have two years of eligibility remaining.

In 2024, Mendoza threw for 3,004 yards with 16 touchdowns and six interceptions. Among Power Four starting quarterbacks, Mendoza was top-10 in yards per game (273.1) and completion percentage (69%) despite being sacked 41 times, the most among FBS quarterbacks, per ESPN.

Mendoza has thrown for 4,712 yards with 30 touchdowns and 16 interceptions in two seasons.
