New Indiana football head coach Curt Cignetti continues to add roles to his coaching staff and two new staffers are expected to join the IU football staff this season.

According to FootballScoop.com Cignetti is adding Matt Wilson in a ‘General Manager’ type role while Blake Jackson is joining in a Director of Football Operations role.

Wilson has had numerous power five stops across his career, including one back in 2019 with Indiana where he previously helped with recruiting and personnel related roles. Other stints include Tennessee, Mississippi State, North Carolina State, Memphis, Arkansas State and UConn — all in similar ‘personnel’ related roles.

Wilson also has NFL experience with the Arizona Cardinals.

During his previous stint with the Indiana football program, Wilson was part of the group that was extremely involved in the recruitment of Michael Penix. He was part of the staff that included Kaleb DeBoer as offensive coordinator.

Wilson was part of the Arkansas State staff that put together the top recruiting class in program history in 2022. He was with NC State this past season.

Wilson is highly-regarded amongst the college football industry with his ability to help in recruiting and scouting.

Blake Jackson recently served as the Director of Football Operations at Arkansas State

Before his time there, he spent numerous years on staff at Tennessee working in operations and as a graduate assistant.

Both Jackson and Wilson also spent time together with Tennessee.

Both are expected to be major additions to the staff and show the universities support of the Indiana football program — something Cignetti made evident over the first month of being on the job.

“I’ll tell you what, we got some momentum going, and we have a lot of people to buy in,” Cignetti said last month. “Look, the administration here, they want football to win. So I probably have some things that the other coaches didn’t, and they got a guy that knows what they’re doing. So it’s really pretty simple.”
