Indiana football officially announced its spring football roster on Monday as the spring semester gets underway this week. But, there was one omission that was notable for the Hoosiers.

Running back Josh Henderson was not listed on the roster. Henderson was a significant part of the Indiana football offense over the last two seasons.

Henderson rushed for 337 yards on 81 carries in 2023. He had two rushing touchdowns as well as 125 receiving yards and one receiving touchdown. Henderson missed four games with an injury.

“He’s grown in his confidence, his ability to get out there. I just think he’s a guy that you can keep on the field. He’s a three-down back,” Former Indiana football head coach Tom Allen said heading into this season. “He can catch, he can block, he can run. He’s able to just really do whatever he’s got to do the team be successful and win.”

In 2022, Henderson put together his best season in college. He totaled 398 yards on the ground with four touchdowns. He averaged 4.4 yards per carry on a career-high 90 carries. Henderson also added 24 receptions for 274 yards and four touchdowns.

His eight touchdowns were most on Indiana.

He had multiple receptions in six games while also adding at least 40 rushing yards in four games.

Indiana football brought in five new running backs in the 2024 class, including four transfers. The Hoosier also received positive news when leading returning rusher Trent Howland decided to return to Indiana after originally committing to Minnesota from the transfer portal.
