Indiana football travels to East Lansing on Saturday looking to remain unbeaten against a fiery Michigan State team coming off of a tough loss to Michigan.

MSU head coach Jonathan Smith was very clear about their loss to Michigan, especially how the game ended — they won’t forget it. Now, they turn their focus to an Indiana football team who Smith says is ‘one of the hottest teams in the country’. He’s not wrong.

The Hoosier remain unbeaten and ranked No. 13 in the country.

Michigan State is 4-4, looking for a signature moment in Smith’s first season.

Here are some of the key quotes Smith had regarding Indiana.

On Indiana Overall: “A big time opponent, one of the hottest teams in the country — doing it in all three phases. Look at Indiana, offensively, doing some things and can score points in bunches, Defensively, have some solid players running around and a solid scheme. You don’t win every game by accident.”

On IU’s offense: “Schematically, they do a nice job. They have weapons in the backfield, the wide receivers. The o-line is all on the same page … the QB thing, I didn’t see a lot of difference in efficiencies and operations. So, we are preparing for who we will see — both of them can operate that offense pretty well.”

On The Turnaround: “Credit to them, you turned a lot of new players in the first year. Schematically, Cignetti knows what he’s doing … they’re playing with a lot of confidence. From the start of games to how they finish games, they’re playing with a lot of confidence and had a lot of success.”

Below is Smith’s full video Q&A.
