Former Indiana swimmer and Olympic great Lilly King has a chance to make history on Monday in the 100-meter breaststroke.
King, 27, has two Gold Medals, two Silvers and one Bronze in her Olympic career — and now she’s going for even more.
When Lilly King jumps in the pool on Monday, she can make history just by landing on the podium. She can become the first American to earn three medals in the 100m breaststroke. King would also join Australian Leisel Jones as the only two women to complete the feat.
“I’m really trying to take in the experience,” King said over the weekend. “I really don’t think I gave myself the chance to do this at the last two Olympics. I’m just trying to take all of this in and appreciate it.”
King is set to race at 3:25 pm ET.
“I think always for me just at this point in my career I’ve done everything I’ve ever wanted to do,” King said during the trials in Indianapolis. “It’s just striving to be the best version of myself that I can be.”
