IU football quarterback Kurtis Rourke finished inside the top-10 of the Heisman Trophy voting after leading Indiana to a historic year.

Quarterback Kurtis Rourke continued to earn national recognition for his play this season in his lone year with the IU football program.

Not only was it a historic year for the program, Rourke’s play this year was a main reason why and put him in the top-10 for the final Heisman Trophy voting. While not a finalist, Rourke finished ninth in the voting.

Rourke led the nation in passing efficiency (181.4) and led the Big Ten in passing touchdowns (27) and fewest interceptions (4). The three-time Offensive Player of the Week in the league, Rourke became the first Big Ten quarterback since 2000 to throw for 250 yards and at least three touchdowns in the first three conference road games.

IU football finished 11-1 and earned a spot in the College Football Playoff. The 11 wins were the most in program history, as was the eight Big Ten wins. IU also had its best home record in program history, an undefeated 8-0.

Indiana’s five wins by at least 30 points was also a program record.

For the year, Rourke totaled 2,827 yards, the seventh-best in a single-season in IU football program history.

He was also a Maxwell, Walter Camp and Davey O’Brien Award semifinalist, in addition to being named to the All-Big Ten Second Team.

IU football heads to Notre Dame on Friday night for the first round of the College Football Playoff, with the winner advancing to play Georgia.
