Charlotte ready for ‘stiff test’ this weekend against Indiana football — a team that is ‘really, really good’

The Indiana football program welcomes in Charlotte for Saturday’s week four matchup.

The Hoosiers, who are 3-0, are coming off of their best road win — and also a Big Ten win — since 2001 in a 42-13 win over UCLA. Charlotte head coach Biff Poggi is in his second season with the program and bring in one of the highest-turnover rosters in the nation.

They rank behind Army (74) and North Texas (77) among total newcomers between their 2023 and 2024 rosters. The 49ers are also tied with Colorado for the most transfer additions in the country this offseason with 44.

On Indiana, Poggi had some initial comments:

“We have a stiff test this weekend, going to Bloomington,” he said. “You look at the film of Indiana, the things that jump out are; really well coached, great players too, they did a great job in the portal. Coach Cignetti … he has it rolling. That league better be ready for him.

“They’re in the top five and mostly closer to 1, 2 and 3 in every offensive category in the country. Very sophisticated concepts, very physical offensive line, excellent quarterback, three running backs, really good receivers. Guys who can make plays. On defense, they play really hard, really physical, really fast and run to the ball. They play really hard. It’ll be a big test for us going up there against a really, really good team.”
