The IU football program earned its second commitment of the weekend from the transfer portal as Amariyun Knighten announced his pledge to the Hoosiers.
Knighten played three seasons for Northern Illinois and totaled 45 tackles, seven pass breakups and one interception. His lone interception came this season against Notre Dame which clinched NIU’s win over the Irish in South Bend.
This year he had 17 tackles and four pass deflections in eight games.
Michigan State, Wisconsin, Cincinnati, Nebraska, Kansas and Utah were some of the programs interested in Knighten when he hit the transfer portal.
D’Angelo Ponds and Jamier Johnson — the two starting cornerbacks for IU football this year — are expected back in 2025.
Knighten has two years of eligibility remaining.
He joins UAB running back Lee Beebe Jr and Texas State kicker Brendan Franke as the three transfer pledges in IU’s 2025 class.
