IU football adds Texas State transfer defensive lineman Dominique Ratcliff

The IU football program landed another commitment from the transfer portal on Tuesday afternoon as Dominique Ratcliff announced his pledge to the Hoosiers.

Ratcliff comes from Texas State where he was an Honorable Mention All-Sun Belt selection this past season. He totaled 22 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss and two sacks this year in 12 games.

The 6-foot-3 and 285-pound defensive lineman played three years for Texas State, combining for 67 tackles, 12 tackles for loss and five sacks.

His best season was in 2023 when he had 28 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks. He was also one of the best linemen in the nation in stopping the run — ranked 15th in the nation, per Pro Football Focus.

SMU, TCU, Virginia Tech, Houston and Memphis were some of the other programs involved with Ratcliff while he was in the transfer portal.

Ratcliff joins Hosea Wheeler as the two defensive line commits this week from the transfer portal for the IU football program.

In total, IU has six portal commits this winter.
