Another former IU basketball player will be in the NBA Summer League as Miller Kopp is joining the Oklahoma City Thunder roster.
Kopp is already committed to the IU basketball alumni team ‘Assembly Ball’ in this month’s TBT — the $1 million winner-take-all tournament. There will likely be a few crossover games towards the end of Summer League play, especially if Assembly Ball keeps advancing.
Kopp played in the NBA G-League last season for the Thunder affiliate Oklahoma City Blue. He averaged 6.3 points per game in 17.6 minutes. He appeared in 26 games.
The Blue won the G-League Championship this season.
Kopp, the all-time leader in Big Ten games played, appeared in 157 games in his college career for IU basketball and Northwestern. He played 70 games across two years for Indiana, averaging 7.0 points and shooting 40.8 percent from three.
He averaged 8.1 points, 2.5 rebounds and shot 44.4 percent in his final season with Indiana.
The Thunder begin play on Monday night against the Philadelphia 76ers and former Hoosier Romeo Langford in the Salt Lake City Summer League. They play three games before heading to the Vegas Summer League where they begin play on the 13th.
