The Indiana women’s basketball program took down Purdue 74-68 on Sunday afternoon but the story postgame had to deal with someone who wasn’t even on the floor.

Indiana wing Sydney Parrish did not play on Sunday and was seen wearing a boot and walking with crutches.

Indiana head coach Teri Moren said Parrish injured her foot during practice on Friday and added that the team would know more about Parrish’s status moving forward after a follow-up appointment on Monday.

“It’s unfortunate, but every team has adversity at some point,” Moren said.

Parrish has been a key cog to the Indiana women’s basketball success the past two years. This year, she is averaging 10.8 points per game, 5.8 rebounds, 2.4 assists and is shooting 39.3 percent from three.

Despite a slow start this season, Parrish has come on strong over the last month. In January, she is averaging 16.0 points per game while shooting 58.6 percent from three — with 3.4 made 3s per game.

Lexus Bargesser started in place of Parrish on Sunday, going scoreless in 34 minutes. She added three rebounds and three assists.

It was Chloe Moore-McNeil who stepped up in a big way. She had a career-high 20 points and added four assists in 40 minutes.

“She’s as tough as they come. She’s reliable and I trust her,” Moren said of Moore-McNeil. “She has a lot on her plate, not only running our team but also guarding the best player.”

Sara Scalia added 20 points and six 3s as four Hoosiers scored in double-figures.

Indiana is 16-2 overall and tied for frist in Big Ten play at 7-1. The Hoosiers have a week off before their next game.
