The Indiana women’s basketball program is looking to make it three-straight years of a player selected in the WNBA Draft.

Last year it was Grace Berger who was selected No. 7 overall — the highest selected player in Indiana women’s basketball program history. It was also the first time in program history that a player from Indiana was selected in back-to-back drafts.

Now, Indiana will likely see two players drafted this year. Both Mackenzie Holmes and Sara Scalia are in the draft pool and in the most recent ESPN mock draft, both are projected to hear their names called.

Holmes is projected in the second round at No. 19 overall to the Connecticut Sun. Then, in the third round, Sara Scalia is projected to also get selected by the Connecticut Sun.

Holmes ended her Indiana women’s basketball career as the program’s all-time winningest player and all-time scoring leader. She was also a multi-year All-American.

In 147 career games, Holmes averaged 17.2 points, 6.7 rebounds and shot 63.9 percent from the floor.

Scalia averaged 12.9 points per game in two seasons with Indiana (64 games). In her career, Scalia averaged 13.8 points per game and shot 38.7 percent on 2.6 made 3s per game.

This season, Scalia hit an Indiana women’s basketball single-season record 103 3s and ranked 12th in the nation in three-point percentage (43 percent).

Earlier this week however, Holmes announced that she would be having knee surgery and would miss the entire 2024 WNBA season.

“At this time to ensure my body is healthy and my playing career is as long and successful as possible, I have decided to get the necessary surgery in May to prevent further issues and alleviate the pain it has caused. I have declared for the 2024 WNBA Draft and pray that a team honors me with a selection knowing I will be ready for the start of the 2025 Training Camp. Your support, thoughts, and prayers at this time are appreciated.”

Indiana is coming off of a season in which it made it to the third Sweet Sixteen in four years before falling by four points to eventual National Champion South Carolina.

Indiana women’s basketball has had five players selected in the WNBA Draft all-time.

The WNBA draft will take place on Monday, April 15 at 7:30 pm ET on ESPN.

Here is a list of the Hoosiers selected in the WNBA Draft:

2011 – Jori Davis (33rd pick, Indiana Fever)

2022 – Ali Patberg (33rd pick, Indiana Fever)
