The Indiana women’s basketball program set a viewership record for its game against No. 19 Tennessee over the holiday weekend.

Indiana and Tennessee, who played on Thanksgiving night as part of the Fort Myers Tip-off, set a viewership record for a women’s college basketball game on FOX. The game drew 1,118,000 viewers.

Indiana got the win, 71-57.

“After that Stanford loss, we weren’t just angry and frustrated and disappointed. We were a little bit embarrassed,” Indiana women’s basketball coach Teri Moren said following the win. “We knew that that’s not our team. That’s not what we’re capable of …They wanted to show up and prove to themselves more than anything that they were better than what we showed in our performance in Stanford.

“This is a good win for us on the road in a great environment and against a really good basketball team. We are thankful and grateful that we were able to put it together tonight.”

The Hoosiers went on to defeat N0. 25 Princeton in game two.

Indiana, now ranked No. 17 in the AP Poll, faces Maine on Thursday — a homecoming for All-American forward Mackenzie Holmes.

Holmes recently became the second player to score 2,000 points in Indiana women’s basketball program history. She has now totaled 2,004 career points in her five seasons with the Hoosiers.

The Hoosiers are 5-1 on the season with their lone loss coming to Stanford two weeks ago.
