Indiana women’s basketball All-American forward Mackenzie Holmes was named to the Wooden Award late season watch list this week.
Holmes, an AP All-American last season and preseason All-American selection, has been fantastic once again for Indiana. She is averaging 20.3 points, 7.3 rebounds and shooting 67.4 percent from the field. The reigning Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year is also averaging 1.5 blocks per game.
She has 12 20+ point games and two games of at least 30 points.
The Indiana women’s basketball program is currently ranked No. 10 in the AP Poll and is 17-2 overall and 8-1 in Big Ten play.

LOS ANGELES – Indiana graduate student forward Mackenzie Holmes has been named to the 2023-24 John R. Wooden Award Presented by Principal Late Season Top 20 Watch List, announced by the organization this evening.
A 2023 Wooden Award All-America as a senior season, Holmes is one of three candidates for the award from the Big Ten. She is averaging a team-high 20.3 points, 7.3 rebounds and shooting 67.4 percent from the floor along with 1.5 blocks per game. The Gorham, Maine native has put up double figures in 18 of 19 games and has a team-high five double-doubles. She leads the Big Ten in field goal percentage, second in scoring and fourth in blocks. Nationally, Holmes is fifth in field goal percentage and 19th in points per game. She has led No. 10 IU to a 17-2 overall record and 8-1 record in Big Ten play heading into a Wednesday night matchup at Maryland.
Created in 1976, the John R. Wooden Award Program hosts the most prestigious honors in college basketball recognizing The Wooden Award Most Outstanding Player for men and women, The Wooden Award All-America Teams for men and women and the annual selection of the Wooden Award Legend of Coaching recipient. Honorees have proven to their university that they meet or exceed the qualifications of the John R. Wooden Award as set forth by Coach Wooden and the Wooden Award Steering Committee, including making progress towards graduation and maintaining at least a 2.0 cumulative GPA.
