Indiana football junior wide receiver Donaven McCulley has announced that he will enter the transfer portal.

This news follows the season-finale 35-31 loss to Purdue on Saturday and is on the heels of the news that Indiana is firing head coach Tom Allen.

Throughout the Indiana football season, McCulley became one of the top wide receivers in the Big Ten and often became the ‘go to’ guy for Indiana football quarterback Brendan Sorsby, who also announced his intentions to enter the transfer portal.

McCulley appeared in all 12 games for the Indiana football Hoosiers this season totaling 48 receptions, 644 yards, 6 touchdowns, and 13.4 yards after the catch. He became one of the true bright spots for the offense this season.

“D Mac to me is a guy I’ve always challenged.,” former Indiana head coach Tom Allen earlier this season. “I’ve always felt like that he was a guy that should have the mindset that ‘they just can’t guard me. If the ball is anywhere near me, I’ll going to come down with it. They’re going to have to grab me, hold me, interfere with me in order to make a play.’

McCulley, who attended Lawrence North High School (IN), originally joined the Indiana football program as a quarterback before switching to wide receiver his sophomore year.

“My first season I just tried to take everything as I could and be a sponge,” McCulley told reporters before the season. “Getting out of my breaks is really something that’s big for me (and something I’m working on). Switching positions, you’re not used to that. Just working on that, getting out of breaks and everything, staying flexible.”

“This year I’m way more comfortable, even with the playbook. With the alignment, what a receiver is supposed to do,” McCulley added. “I’m kinda just coming into my own at the position.”

McCulley joins Indiana football standouts Brendan Sorsby, Trent Howland, Myles Jackson, Chris Freeman, and many others as far as names that have entered the portal.
