In an extremely significant development, the Indiana football program is set to host a 2025 top-10 prospect for an official visit later this month.

According to 247Sports national writer Tom Loy, quarterback Julian Lewis will be on campus at Indiana starting May 31.

Lewis is a five-star and top-10 prospect in the 2025 class. Currently he is ranked No. 9 overall and the No. 2 overall quarterback in the 247Sports composite rankings.

Lewis has been committed to USC since August 22, 2023 but is still open to a few programs, including Indiana. Why? The connection with new Indiana football quarterbacks coach Tino Sunseri — someone Lewis has known since his childhood.

“Coach Tino is my guy,” Lewis previously told 247Sports. “I’ve known him since I was eight-years old. He’s honestly the first college coach to notice me.”

Lewis is as talented as they come. In two high school seasons, he’s thrown for 6,952 yards with 93 touchdowns and just 14 interceptions. This past season he had 3,094 yards with 48 touchdowns and just two interceptions, per MaxPreps.

The Carrollton (Ga.) quarterback was originally in the 2026 class before reclassifying to 2025 in January.

While Indiana football will have an uphill climb against the likes of USC, Auburn, Alabama, Colorado and others, Indiana is far from out, and this visit shows that.

“I’m going to give them (Indiana) a shot,” Loy said previously. ” … I’m not ready to write off Indiana. I talked to somebody today. That Tino Sunseri — that relationship is very real. And let’s be honest, when he (Lewis) steps on campus, there’s nobody else that is going to keep that dude from playing in year one. He’s that special of a talent. So I’m not ready to write them off. People were making it very clear to me today that relationship means a lot … relationships matter to a lot of these guys and JuJu is one of those guys where it carries a lot of weight.”

This is a significant step for Indiana and one that shows the type of recruiter and also relationship builder that Curt Cignetti and his staff are. His resume with developing quarterbacks is also a massive reason why Indiana Athletic Director Scott Dolson was intrigued by Cignetti early on. Regardless of if Indiana lands a commitment from Lewis or not, this is a major step in the right direction.

“We wanted someone who was a proven evaluator and developer of talent. And we really wanted someone also who had worked with quarterbacks,” Dolson said about Cignetti during his introductory press conference. “Quarterbacks was really important to us.”

Indiana already beat out numerous high-major programs for four-star and top-15 QB in the 2024 class with Tyler Cherry. So, there is now momentum on the recruiting trail at the quarterback position.
