We continue to see more positive updates for IU football quarterback Kurtis Rourke as far as it comes to possibly playing on Saturday at Michigan State.

According to a report via CBSSports National College Football Reporter Brandon Marcello, IU football senior quarterback Kurtis Rourke is ‘on track’ to start this Saturday in Indiana’s road game at Michigan State.

Rourke has surgery on his right thumb a little over a week ago from an injury he sustained in Indiana’s matchup vs Nebraska. He missed last week’s game vs Washington however backup quarterback Tayven Jackson was able to lead the Hoosiers to victory.

Jackson finished 11-of-19 for 124 yards with one touchdown and one interception. He also added one touchdown on the ground as well.

“Optimistic on Kurtis Rourke, he’s thrown the last few days, building up,” said IU football head coach Curt Cignetti on Monday. “Workload will increase as the week goes on. That’s all I’m going to say about it.”

Rourke has been a driving force for the Hoosiers this season, throwing for 1,941 yards with 15 touchdowns to just three interceptions. He’s completing 74.6 percent of his pass attempts on the year.

IU football will look to improve to 9-0 on the season as they travel to Michigan State to compete for the Brass Spittoon.

Kickoff is set for 3:30 PM on Peacock.
