Friday afternoon, Indiana football signed transfer portal running back Lee Beebe Jr. from UAB, according to Pete Nakos with On3Sports.

Beebe Jr. had served as an impactful running back for UAB this past season, playing in 12 games, rushing for 884 yards and seven touchdowns, averaging 5.3 yards per carry.

Beebe Jr. had a career high in single game rushing yards this season against Rice, moving the ball for 161 rushing yards.

Beebe Jr. saw a lot of work on the field as a pass catcher, bringing in 30 catches this season for 219 receiving yards and a touchdown. His 1,103 all purpose yards led the entire team.

His strong season earned him Third-Team All-AAC honors.

Indiana football will be losing its top two rushers in Justice Ellison and Ty Son Lawton, due to eligibility following the season. The duo combined for 1,445 yards and 22 touchdowns, averaging 5.2 yards per carry. In addition to Ellison and Lawton, Indiana running back Elijah Green entered the transfer portal this past week. Green played in seven games this season, totaling 29 carries for 201 rushing yards and five touchdowns, averaging 6.9 yards per carry.

Indiana will also lose Solomon Vanhorse, another JMU transfer, who was used primarily as a return specialist.

The several departures in the running back room leaves lots of opportunity open for Beebe Jr. to step up on offense for Indiana next season.

Despite the 2024 season being his third season in college football, Beebe Jr. will classify as a redshirt junior next season, having two more years of eligibility. Beebe Jr., a former walk on, redshirted his freshman season, having played in just one game in 2022.

Beebe Jr. is ranked as a three star transfer in the Rivals transfer portal industry ranking.
