After having an outstanding regular season which saw Indiana football finish 11-1 with a spot in the playoffs all but wrapped up, it was almost a certain that some of the staff were going to be attractive targets for other jobs around the college world.
First reported by IndyStar’s Zach Osterman, one of Curt Cignetti’s top assistant coaches, Tino Sunseri, is expected to leave the program to become the new offensive coordinator for UCLA. The Bruins fired Eric Bienemy as offensive coordinator Thursday morning.
While he will be leaving Indiana football, he is expected to also stay with the Hoosiers through the College Football Playoff it was reported as well. It was also reported that nine assistant coaches signed new deals to stay with the Indiana football program.
Sunseri served as Co-Offensive Coordinator/QBs coach for Indiana football this season helping develop Kurtis Rourke into being one of the top quarterbacks in the country this season.
With the success that Curt Cignetti had this season coaching the Hoosiers, a move like this was more than expected to take place.
