IU Football flips Three Star WR Davion Chandler from Illinois

IU Football successfully flipped 2025 three-star wide receiver Davion Chandler from Illinois he announced on X/Twitter earlier today.

The Indianapolis native and Lawrence North originally committed to Illinois earlier this month but after a visit to Indiana, Cignetti and his staff were able to flip the in-state receiver.

He also held offers from Wisconsin, Kansas, Michigan State, Purdue, and many other programs.

Chandler is the No. 119 receiver in the 2025 class and the tenth-best player in the state of Indiana according to 247Sports.

As a junior, Chandler had 40 receptions for 779 receiving yards and 13 touchdowns for Lawrence North.

Allen Trieu, a national recruiting analyst for 247Sports, described Chandler as a “Quick, twitchy route-runner with good burst off the line and creates separation at the top of his routes. Catches the ball well in traffic and quickly gets going up the field after he catches it. Quickness and elusiveness show up after the catch as well as in the return game.”

“Despite not being a bigger outside receiver, he shows the ability to go up high and make contested catches. Has excellent all-around body control and ability to adjust to passes. Very good athlete who can play in the slot or outside and can be a gadget guy as well. Effective on screens and can get on top of a defender and get behind them as well as be effective on intermediate routes. Laser-timed in the mid 4.5s so he has good enough long speed and we would expect that number to go down by the end of college. Has to get stronger, but is a very skilled prospect who is a safe projection to help his college team move the chains and put points up.”

At 6-foot-0 170 pounds, Chandler is on the smaller end for his position and will have to get stronger at the next level, but he possesses all the tools to make an impact for IU Football and Curt Cignetti.

Chandler is the 16th player to commit to play for IU Football in the 2025 class and joins LeBron Bond as the second wide receiver to commit to the program in the class.
