Indiana football moves up in the AP Top 25 after a 41-24 win over Northwestern on Saturday and a 6-0 start.

A week after Indiana football made its season debut in the AP Top 25, it moved up the rankings.

Following a 41-24 win over Northwestern on Saturday, Indiana moved up to No. 18 in the rankings.

In addition, Indiana football also has a 51.5 percent chance of making the College Football Playoff, according to ESPN’s FPI.

ESPN analysts Bill Connelly and Harry Lyles Jr have IU as the 8-seed in their playoff projections, with a home matchup against Alabama.

Indiana now has a bye week before a homecoming matchup against Nebraska.

“Looking forward to the bye week. Everyone could use a day off,” Indiana football head coach Curt Cignetti said on Saturday. “I think for the players it’s a good time to get rejuvenated a little bit. We’ll use it constructively. We have an older team. I’m not really concerned about them so much reading about their accolades on social media and the paper because they’ve been around the block a little bit.

“They’ll be reading a lot about how we aren’t good enough to do this and then. I want the chip on their shoulder to keep growing.”
