Monday morning it was announced that Indiana football landed the signing of Western Kentucky defensive tackle Hosea Wheeler.

Wheeler, a redshirt junior, spent the last three seasons in the Western Kentucky program, taking on an important role on the defensive line, starting in both the 2023 and 2024 seasons.

At 6’3, 300 pounds, Wheeler brought a big presence to Western Kentucky’s defensive line this past season, totaling 64 tackles, 27 solo tackles, two sacks and one forced fumble.

Notably this season, Wheeler’s forced fumble and one of his sacks came in week one on the road against #5 Alabama.

Across his three years at Western Kentucky, Wheeler collected 117 total tackles, 50 solo tackles, one interception, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovered.

His strong impact on the program earned him spots on the 2023 All-Conference USA Second Team and 2024 Conference USA Preseason Watch List.

Prior to his three seasons at Western Kentucky, Wheeler spent one season at Sacramento City College, appearing in nine games and making 24 tackles.

Wheeler initially entered the transfer portal on December 8, committing to Indiana quickly after.

Wheeler is now the fourth known transfer moving to Indiana for the 2025 season.
