The Indiana football program has one of the highest risers in the most recent recruiting refresh. Byron Baldwin was barely on any recruiting ranking radars when he committed to Indiana a little over a month ago, but now he’s inside the top-250 players in the nation.

According to 247Sports rankings update this week, Baldwin jumped over 100 spots from No. 391 to No. 229. That jump makes Baldwin the highest-rated prospect and commit in Indiana’s 2025 recruiting class.

The 6-foot-1 defensive back from Calvert Hall College (Md.) had 89 tackles, four pass break-ups, two interceptions and two forced fumbles this past season.

Baldwin’s initial rise came when he was a breakout candidate at the Under Armour Next camp series earlier this month.

“Byron Baldwin has plenty of fans behind the scenes at 247Sports and looked the part throughout his individual workout and 1-on-1 session on Sunday earning defensive back MVP honors from the UA Camp staff,” 247Sports national writer Hudson Standish wrote. “Baldwin did not look out of place working at corner, which speaks to his versatility as a coverage defender considering the 6-foot-0.5 athlete primarily operates from depth at the prep level.

“The Indiana commit is a smooth mover who can effectively mirror opposing wide receivers with ease before quickly breaking on the ball. In the rare moments where Baldwin was beaten off the line of scrimmage, he quickly recovered showcasing ideal recovery speed before utilizing late hands to make plays on the ball. All in all, it was another impressive showing for Baldwin who earned Top Performer honors for the second consecutive year at the UA Baltimore camp.”

When Baldwin made his pledge to the Indiana football program, he held other major offers from programs like Wisconsin, Tennessee, Minnesota, Kentucky, Rutgers, Boston College, Syracuse, West Virginia and others.
