Indiana basketball recruiting has hit new heights this summer with the transfer portal and is starting to heat up heading into the summer as well.
According to Rivals national analyst Rob Cassidy, 2025 top-15 wing Nate Ament will be visiting Indiana.
Ament earned an offer from Indiana basketball last fall and has been not only on the rise since, but been a prospect that Indiana has been very active with.
“I haven’t set anything in stone yet, but I’m going to be going to Indiana soon. I’m also going to go back to [Virginia],” Ament told Cassidy. “With Indiana, their head coach used to be a big-time big coach in the NBA and coached big-time NBA guys. They want to keep developing me as a versatile player. They would help improve my game.”
The Highland School (Va.) prospect is highly-coveted, however. Indiana, Virginia, Duke, North Carolina, Louisville, Virginia Tech and others are all involved. Kentucky is started to get involved as well.
Ament is a fluid athlete who is tremendous on both ends of the floor. He has great versatility that allows him to play on the perimeter and at the rim. Through two sessions with Team Loaded on the Adidas 3SSB circuit he’s averaging 12.8 points, 6.3 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game. He’s shooting 39.3 percent from three (13-of-33).
Last summer, Ament averaged 15.4 points while shooting 37.8 percent from three.
The biggest part of his game that he’s working to improve is his ball handling and ‘guard-like’ skills, noting the versatility and positionless basketball at the college level.
Cassidy notes the importance of this visit for Indiana basketball in the long-term potential of his recruitment.
“Ament’s upcoming Indiana visit feels like a signpost moment in his recruitment,” Cassidy said. “And while there are other teams lingering around the periphery, Virginia Tech, Virginia and Duke seem like the most likely landing spots for the five-star wing as things stand. Should things on his Indiana go well, the Hoosiers may kick in the door to the presumed top group, but luring the 6-foot-7 forward away from the East Coast will take a herculean effort.”
