Indiana basketball is shaping to have a really cool season that will see them play at some unique locations for the upcoming 2024-2025 season.

On Thursday morning, it was announced via CBS College Basketball Insider Jon Rothstein, Indiana basketball and Penn State will meet on Jan. 5th, 2025 at The Palestra as part of Big Ten play during the 2024-25 season

Nearly every season, Penn State has hosted multiple Big Ten opponents in the past at The Palestra. The historic Palestra opened on Jan. 1, 1927. It has ‘hosted more games, more visiting teams and more NCAA tournaments than any other facility in college basketball. At the time of its construction, it was one of the world’s largest arenas.

The Palestra has a capacity of 8,700 seats.

In summer 2007, ESPN Classic had a documentary entitled “The Palestra: Cathedral of Basketball”.

Playing at the Palestra will count as one of the ten conference home games for Penn State. The Nittany Lions are entering their second season under head coach Mike Rhoades.

Indiana basketball went 1-2 vs Penn State last season. Their only win over the Nittany Lions was in the Big Ten Tournament, which was actually the last win of the season for the Hoosiers.

Along with a trip to The Palestra, the Hoosiers will also be traveling to the Bahamas in late November for the Battle For Atlantis event where the will play Louisville in the first round. Before the season officially starts, the Indiana basketball will travel to Knoxville to play Tennessee in the charity exhibition, as well.
