The Indiana basketball program hits the hardwood for its first game of the Big Ten Tournament on Thursday night and released its official injury report this afternoon.
The Big Ten began with its weekly availability report for football this season and announced that it would be conducting the same schedule with basketball. It was announced that programs will have to release their injury reports three hours before tip.
For Indiana, its injury report listed guard Trey Galloway and forward Anthony Walker as questionable.
Galloway exited Sunday’s 65-64 win over Michigan State with a knee injury early in the first half and did not return.
He left the floor at the 12:54 mark of the first half and was visibly limping. He was wearing a sleeve on his left knee. When he left, he was seen trying to stretch out his knee. He briefly sat on the bench before heading to the locker room where he changed to compression pants instead of the sleeve.
Scouting Notes: Penn State
After working on the warmup bike and doing some jogging and cutting in the locker room tunnel, he returned to the bench but did not return in the first half. He did not return to the game.
“Trey is definitely a big part of our offense, with him just being able to get downhill, throw the lob, or get to his flow offensively,” Indiana forward Kel’el Ware said postgame. “With him going down, I just felt like not even just me, but everybody on the team had to step up. If we wanted to get the win. I feel like that’s what we did.”
Galloway came into Sunday’s game averaging 10.8 points, 2.9 rebounds and 4.8 assists per game. He is one of four Indiana basketball players with three games of 11+ assists in a career, joining Isiah Thomas, Jamal Meeks and Michael Lewis, doing so all in the last six games.
Sources told HoosierIllustrated.com that Galloway came into Thursday being a true game-time decision.
Walker shows up for the second straight game after a knee injury against Minnesota. The injury occurred at the 16:32 mark of the second half. He went up for a reverse layup and landed awkwardly on his right knee. During the replay, you could clearly see his knee buckle. Walker was unable to walk off on his own. Later in the second half, however, he was on the bench without any wrap or brace on it.
He played four minutes against Michigan State on Sunday in the first half but did not see action in the second half.
Walker is averaging 5.2 points and 2.4 rebounds in 14.4 minutes per game.
Indiana basketball is 18-13 overall and finished on a four-game winning streak. Indiana likely needs to win the Big Ten Tournament in order to make the NCAA Tournament.
If Indiana wins on Thursday against Penn State, it plays Nebraska on Friday night.
