The first class of 2027 prospect has earned a scholarship offer from the Indiana basketball program. The Indiana staff extended an offer to James Hubert Blake (Md.) wing Babatunde Oladotun on Wednesday night.

Oladotun is widely expected to be a top-5 prospect when class of 2027 rankings are made live by most recruiting services. He has made a strong case to be the top prospect in the class as well and is the No. 1 player in ESPN’s top-25 rankings for the sophomore class.

Oladotun already has over a dozen offers entering his sophomore season including from Maryland, Cincinnati, Florida State, Louisville, Tennessee, UCLA, USC, West Virginia and others.

Being from the east coast and playing for the Team Durant AAU program, this is likely a recruitment that will be led by Indiana basketball assistant coach Kenya Hunter due to his ties to both.

Oladotun has been on the Indiana radar for the last month or so. He was one of the prospects that the IU basketball staff watched in person at the NBPA Top 100 camp in June.

The 6-foot-9 and 180-pound wing has been a standout performer throughout the spring and summer — dating back to USA Basketball’s Final Four minicamp in April.

“He’s going to have to get much stronger, but man Oladotun is an impressive looking prospect,” 247Sports National Basketball Director Eric Bossi wrote. “Perhaps even the most impressive we saw from the class of 2027. Long, agile, skilled and athletic, he’s almost all arms and legs right now and can knocked around a bit physically. However, the current level of ability when combined with physical upside gives him a pretty high ceiling for growth,”

Oladotun is a highly-skilled player who can do a lot on the basketball floor. He can create off of the dribble and has a very good shooting touch both from three and in the mid range. Because of his skillset, size and length, comparisons to Brandon Ingram and Kevin Durant have been made loosely.

“There are currently no official rankings for the class of 2027 but Babatunde Oladotun has been in conversation for one of the top prospects in the entire class,” 247Sports national analyst Dashawn London wrote in May. “Standing at 6-foot-8, Oladotun can handle it, create his own shot off the dribble, shoot over the top of defenders and is also very skilled playing out of the post. He has all the physical makings of a top prospect and is producing early on his career.
